Programme "Winter in Town - January 2004" has ended!
International House English Language School in Bydgoszcz, which is also the Headquarters of The Polish-British Foundation, hosted a range of activities for the "Winter in Town" programme from 19th to 30th of January this year. The co-organisers were Polska Akcja Humanitarna and The English Speaking Union.
The programme oferred a range of activities to children and youth from Dom Pomocy Społecznej Promień Życia and this included handicapped youths. The programme was provided free of charge during the winter school holidays: 19.01 to 30.01 every day between 9 am and 1 pm. The activities were based on British culture and English language. Lessons were conducted by English Language teachers, native speakers from International House English Language School and volunteers from the members of The English Speaking Union and guardians from DPS Promień Życia. The programme was well covered by the media and we would like to thank them for their co-operation in providing a reliable and steady information flow to the public regarding this Programme.
The programme consisted of the following themes:
The overall success was confirmed by the participating children and youth, who prepared a nice suprise for the organisers in the form of certificates, souvenirs and expressions of thanks (there was even a standing ovation!). This has proved to us that organising programmes such as this is really worthwhile.
See you next year!
